Mrs. Mona Drake Jones, 82, entered into rest Friday morning, February 5, 2021, at Wills Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Jones was the daughter of the late Asa Chandler Drake and Frances Callaway “Beanie” Drake, and was a lifelong resident of Wilkes County. She was a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church, and of the Hospital Auxiliary in Washington. She was a member of the Beta Club in high school and an Honor graduate. She attended Georgia Teachers College, now known as Georgia Southern University. As a former member of the garden club, she loved flowers and working in the yard. Known as a true “Southern Belle”, she always had time for all and brought a smile to everyone who met her. She loved her friends, and most of all, her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bobby Jones; a son, Dr. Robert Chandler Jones, of Macon; and daughter, Donna J. Raye, and husband Andy, of Suwanee; one brother, Arnold Chandler Drake, and wife Phyllis of Washington; four grandchildren, Anna Raye Alvarado, and husband Esteban, Ashley Raye Hathcock, and husband Wes, Robert “Andrew" Raye, and Kathryn Hadden Raye;three great grandchildren, Laila Weslyn, Emily Reese and Archer Ford Hathcock and two nephews Arnold Chad Drake and Chandler Todd Drake. Graveside services will be 11:00am Saturday, February 13, 2021, at Resthaven Cemetery with Rev. W. C. Bentley and Rev. Jim Newsome officiating.
