Mary Olive King Ray

Mary Olive King Ray, 82, of Rayle, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 9th, 2025, at Echols Personal Care Home. Born on January 31st, 1943, in Washington, Georgia, Mary lived a life full of love, dedication, and warmth.

Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her son, James Ray Jr., and his wife Laura of Greensboro, GA; her cherished grandchildren, Dillion Ray (Ashley) and Brittany Ledford (Daniel), also of Greensboro, GA; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Trey Thurmond, Lane Underwood, Bralee Ledford, Elana Underwood, Declan Ledford, Laila Ray, Walker Ray, and Wrenlee Ledford, all of Greensboro, GA. Mary is also survived by her sister, Jane Stitcher (Roy) of Washington, GA, and her nephew, Cliff Stitcher (Patricia) of Madison, GA.

Mary was preceded in death by her loving parents, Oma and Clara King, her sister Frances King, and her daughter Susan Marie Ray.

After graduating from high school, Mary pursued a business degree at Athens Technical College. She dedicated 44 years of her professional life as a data entry clerk at Essex Manufacturing, where she was known for her meticulous attention to detail and unwavering work ethic.

Mary had a passion for reading romance novels and spent many joyful hours watching the Hallmark Channel. She found great pleasure in working in her yard, tending to her beautiful flowers, which brought her immense joy and peace.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Ruby Booth at Echols Personal Care Home for her loving care and support.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 12th, 2025, from 1:00 to 1:45 PM at Hopkins Funeral Home. Following the visitation, a graveside service will take place at 2:00 PM at Washington Wilkes Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jim Newsome officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Alton Ray, Cliff Stitcher, Dillion Ray, Daniel Ledford, Trey Thurmond, and Lane Underwood.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Hopkins Funeral Home.
