William Lloyd Johnson Iii

Lloyd Johnson III, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 70. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Bobbie Johnson of Pace, FL; his children, Lloyd Johnson IV (Angela) of Pace, FL, Patricia Rossi (John) of Kansas City, MO, and Robert Johnson (Caitlin) of Brooklet, GA; his grandchildren, Alexander and Amelia Johnson, Sophia and Thomas Rossi, and Emily, Hannah, and Luke Johnson; his brother, Calvin Johnson (Stacey) of Atlanta, GA; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Lloyd was born and raised in Aiken, SC. He graduated from St. Angela Academy and attended the Georgia Institute of Technology on an NROTC scholarship. In 1976, Lloyd earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. Throughout his military career, Lloyd completed numerous specialized courses including the U.S. Army Infantry School, Airborne Course, T.O.W. Trainer Course, and the U.S. Army Armor School. He also completed the U.S. Marines Officer Candidate School, The Basic School, and Amphibious Warfare School. His service included deployments to the Mediterranean and Norway, where he contributed to large-scale NATO exercises. Lloyd served in various leadership positions, reaching the rank of Captain before receiving an honorable discharge in 1989. After his military service, Lloyd pursued his passion for taxidermy. He earned certifications from Piedmont Community College and Montgomery Community College, which led him to establish Master's Wildlife Services in Washington, GA, in 1991. As a professional taxidermist, Lloyd earned a national reputation for his skill and artistry. He received numerous state and national awards, including multiple WASCO Awards for The Most Artistic Entry. His dedication to his craft and love of the outdoors were evident in the lifelike creations he produced, which now reside in museums and private collections across the country. Lloyd’s faith in his Savior, Jesus Christ, guided him throughout his life. He was actively involved in Gideons International and served as a Deacon at the First Baptist Church of Washington, GA. He found great joy in sharing his love of the outdoors with his children and grandchildren, whether it was hunting, fishing, or simply spending time on the family farm. Lloyd Johnson III will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his service to his country, and his lifelong passion for the outdoors. His legacy of faith, love, and artistry will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 4, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Washington with Reverend Phil Pilgrim officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 5-7 P.M. at Hopkins Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Adam Johnson, Benji McAvoy, Terry Boswell, Alton Ray, Jerry DeBin and Kyle Bearse.
