Mr. William Frank “Bill” Hopkins, Jr., 81, of Washington, entered into rest on Friday, March 22, 2024, at his home.
Bill was born August 19, 1942, and was the son of the late W. F. Hopkins, Sr. and Myrtis Sanders Hopkins. He was a 1961 graduate of Washington-Wilkes High School, where he was a member of the 1960 State Championship football team. He attended Southern Tech and Georgia Military College, and was married to Linda Lucas Hopkins from 1966 until her death in 2010-44 years. Bill was a licensed funeral director and embalmer and worked at Hopkins Funeral Home in the early ‘70s. He then began a long career with Lockheed Martin, a leading global security and aerospace company as a liaison engineer until his retirement. Bill was multi-talented, loved life, and his family. You couldn’t be around Bill for long without realizing how much he loved his two grandchildren, and how proud he was of them. He was a longtime member of the Washington First Baptist Church.
Mr. Hopkins is survived by one son, William F. “Bill” Hopkins III, and wife Lori, of Thomson; two grandchildren, Lucas Hopkins and Savannah Hopkins, both of which are presently students at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro; one sister, Debbie Hopkins Pittman, of Washington; two nieces, Chrissie Ivie and Lynn Davis; and one nephew, Frank Pittman.
Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the Hopkins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sid Hopkins officiating. After the service, the family will remain in the chapel for a time of visitation.
