William Raymond Burton

Mr. William Raymond ‘Billy’ Burton, 67, of Tignall, died May 26, 2010 at Heritage Healthcare of Wilkes.He was a native of Wilkes county, the son of the late Raymond Ellis and Harriett Strother Burton.Mr. Burton attended school in Tignall and graduated from Washington Wilkes High School in 1960.He attended Massey Business College in Atlanta and received an accounting degree.Upon graduation from Massey Business College, he was owner and operator of Burton Bookkeeping and Tax Service in Atlanta, Clayton and Tignall until his retirement in 2009.He was a member of Mallorysville Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at Mallorysville Baptist Church Friday, May 28th at 5pm. with Rev. Donnie Berry officiating.Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Lawrence Burton, Bobby Burton, Joe Burton, Ralph Denard, Robert Rogers and Lester Strother will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the church Friday, one hour prior to service time. Survivors include one brother and sister in law, Tony and Diane Burton, of Tignall; a great niece, Alicia Barker, of Tignall; several aunts and uncles and a host of cousins. Arrangements are in the care of Hopkins Funeral Home.
