Walter M Echols

Mr. Walter Marion Echols, 85, ofWashington,died Thursday, September 29, 2011 at his home.A native of Tignall, Georgia, he was the son of the late Marvin Eugene and Annie Ruth Anderson Echols.Mr. Echols was retired from the Savannah River Plant and served in the U.S. Army during WWII in Belgium.He was a member of Tignall Baptist Church.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Powell Echols and son, Jerry. Survivors include one son and daughter in law, Barry and Cheryl Echols, of Washington; one daughter and son in law, Sherrell and Joel Stringer, of Tampa, Florida; four sisters, Barbara Poss, Martinez, Imogene Standard, Pensacola, FL, Caroline Smith, Washington and Norma Pittman, Sharon; 3 grandchildren, Heath Stringer, Kevin Stringer and Michael Echols; and 5 great grandchildren.
