Vivian Lee Ware Walker
Mrs. Vivian Lee Ware Walker, 80, of Washington, passed away on June 22, 2023. A native of Wilkes County, she was the daughter of the late J Oswald and Rose Buff Ware. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over forty-nine years, Charles Roger Walker, and brothers Lane Ware and Greg Ware.
She was a member of Fishing Creek Baptist Church, the Washington Woman’s Club, the Wilkes County Community Partnership where she served on the Board, the Civil War Roundtable, the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation, Friends of Gideons International, Wilkes County Cattlemen’s Association, and the Washington-Wilkes Chamber of Commerce. She was a past member of the Washington Historical Society, the Washington Little Theater, and the Washington-Wilkes Jaycettes. After high school, she attended Massey Business School in Atlanta, GA. Mrs. Walker retired as Executive Director from the Washington Housing Authority after over 40 years of service. She was also an entrepreneur. She loved people and her community and continued to be active serving others until her death.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 25 at 5:00 pm at Fishing Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Ficklin Guin and Rev. Barry McAvoy officiating. Visitation will begin at 4:00 pm and will be held in the church prior to the service. Internment will follow in the church cemetery. Grandsons Ford Walker, Walker Moore, Dixon Caddell, Wilkes Walker, Jackson Lyons and Mason Cronic will serve as pallbearers.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in law, Mark and Cynthia Walker, and daughters and sons-in-law Rosemary and Billy Caddell, and Amy and Shane Moore all of Washington; grandchildren Ford Walker, Wilkes Walker, Olivia Lyons (Jordan) Winn, Jackson Lyons, Dixon Caddell, Lindsey Moore (Mason) Cronic and Walker Moore; great-grandchildren, Emmett, Helen and Thomas Winn; brother Frankie Ware and his wife Gloria, of Tignall; and a number of nieces and nephews.
