Virginia Louise Todd Mrs. Virginia Louise Darby Thornton Todd, 84, of Washington, died Saturday evening at her home. Mrs. Todd was born in Greensboro, and was the daughter of Claude and Louise Moore Darby.She was retired, having previously worked locally as a cloth inspector at Clark Schwebel , Inc. in Washington.Mrs. Todd was preceded in death by two husbands, first by Mr. Charles Thornton, then by Mr. Jesse Todd, and by a son, Steve Thornton.She was a member of the Washington First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Thursday morning, October 24, 2013, at 11:00 at the Washington First Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Madden officiating. Committal services will follow at the Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Jason Crook,Jonathan Crook, Charlie Thornton, John Farmer, John Harris, Benji Lewis, and Chris Mongrue. Mrs. Todd is survived by two daughters, Jane T. Padgett, and Anne T. Crook, both of Lincolnton; one son, Ray Thornton, of Washington; one sister, Imogene Darby, of Lake City, FL; nine grandchildren, Josh Rogers, Kellie Echols, Charlie Thornton, Daisy Lewis, Jason Crook, Jonathan Crook, Lacey Crook,Shannon Farmer, and Jan Harris; and 18 great grandchildren.
