Mrs. Vada King Hale, 86, of S. Smyrna Church Rd., passed away Wednesday evening, June 10, 2020, at University Hospital in Augusta. Mrs. Hale was born in Morristown, Tenn., and has lived in Wilkes County for about 64 years.She was the daughter of the late Francis King and Lola Frances McGinnis King. She was the wife of the late George Lafayette Hale.They were married on June 29, 1957 at St.Paul Presbyterian Church in Lowland.She graduated from East Tennessee State College with a Bachelors Degree in Education.She taught two years in the Kingsport city schools, and after moving to Wilkes County,taught in the Lincoln County School System, then at Wilkes Academy starting in 1970, then finally at the Washington-Wilkes Elementary School.Mrs. Hale was a member of the Washington First Baptist Church. She is survived by her three daughters, Jayna Hale Newell, of Woodbine, Ga., Laura Hale Kelly (Michael), of N. Augusta, S.C., and Frances Ann Hale Smith (Jeff), of Greensboro; two brothers, Ronnie King (Helen), Morristown, Tenn., and C. A. King, of Sevierville, Tenn.; and by four grandchildren, Benjamin Hale Newell, Sean M. Kelly, George S. Kelly, and B. J. Smith. Private graveside services (due to the ongoing pandemic restrictions) will be held Saturday, June 13, 2020, at Resthaven Cemetery with Raleigh Long and Michael D. Kelly officiating.
