Thomas Watson Wideman

Mr. Thomas Watson Wideman, 78, of Sardis Rd., entered into rest on Tuesdayevening, July 20, 2021, at University Hospital in Augusta. Mr. Wideman was born in Washington and had lived here all of his life.He was the son of the late Rennie Watson Wideman and Susie Truitt Wideman.He spent most of his working life at the sawmill, starting as a sawer, then maintenance technician, and finally was a supervisor.He was a member of the Victory Baptist Church. He is survived by his two sons, Ken Wideman, of Rayle, and Bobby Wideman, and wife Katherine, of Martinez; one daughter, Chris White, of Rayle; one sister, Allene W. Moon, of Washington; and four grandchildren, Thomas Wideman, Rachael Wideman, Josh Morris, and Rosemary Morris; and three great grandchildren, Levi Morris, Owen Morris, and Ella Morris. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Friday, July 23, 2021, at the Sardis Baptist Church with Pastor Jimmy Chapman officiating.Interment will follow at the church cemetery.The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church (from 1:00pm-1:55pm). Pallbearers will be Michael Moon, David Wideman, James Wideman, Roger Stratton, Larry Fleming, and Sid Wightman. Hopkins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Thomas Watson Wideman.
