Thomas Smith Mr. Thomas Otis Smith, 72, of Washington, died March 7, 2009 in Heartland Hospice.He was a native of Glascock County and the son of the late Herman and Opal Chalker Smith. He had been in Wilkes county for forty years.Mr. Smith was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and had worked at Warrenton Clipper for 20 years and for Edison Plastic for 15 years. Graveside services will be Monday, March 9, 2009 at 11:00a.m. in the Phillips Mill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Rob Cohen and Dr. Leonard L. Dupree officiating.Karl Hughey, Chuck Stewart, bobby Stevens, Sam Scott, Joey Scott and Everett Hardy will serve as pallbearers and serving as honorary pallbearers will be Plookie Smathers, Sam Ray, Claude Whitehead, James Smith, Bob Merritt, Bill Fair, William Smith, and Johnny McAvoy. Survivors include his wife of forty years, Agnes Hester Smith, of the home; daughters, Vickie Cheeley, Penny Batchelor and husband, Gene, Pat Batchelor and husband, Chuck, all of Eatonton; sons, Bobby Joe Turner, Washington, Mike Turner and wife Karen of Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Robbie Turner, Washington; twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
