Mr. Thomas Edward “Ed” Leary, 84, of Sims St. in Washington, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018, in the Aiken Regional Medical Center. Mr. Leary was born in Asheville, NC, and was the son of Thomas and Mary Catherine Collins Leary.He was the husband of Joyce Robertson Leary, and was a sales representative for Globe Chemical.He served in the Army National Guard for over 20 years, and attained the rank of Captain.He was a member of the Washington First Baptist Church. Mr. Leary is survived by his wife, Joyce R. Leary, of the home; one daughter, Kim L. Echols, of Savannah; two sons, Mike Leary (Theresa), of Gainesville, and Randy Leary, of Washington;five grandchildren, Parker Echols, Elgin Leary, Megan McCoy, Julian Leary, and Braden Leary; and three great grandchildren, Lizzie Echols,Lexie McCoy, and Brooklyn McCoy. Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday, October 18, 2018, at the Hopkins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. W.C. Bentley and Rev. Chris Townsend officiating.The committal service at Washington-Wilkes Memorial Garden will follow with Rev. Kevin Madden in charge. Pallbearers will be Ray Thornton, Barry Echols, Jack Thurmond, Braden Leary, Parker Echols, Julian Leary. Eric McCoy, and Elgin Leary. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-8pm at Hopkins Funeral Home.
