Mr. Thomas Alan Dunnaway, 85, of Washington (Aonia Community), entered into rest Thursday evening, March 24, 2022, at his residence. Mr. Dunnaway was born in Wilkes County and had lived here all of his life.He was the son of Raymond and Martha Turpin Dunnaway, and was the husband of Regina Holsenback Dunnaway. He was an egg farmer for a number of years, after which he helped his son at Dunnaway Rebuilt Engines for a few years. He and Regina loved camping at the lake and at the mountains, and loved fishing at both places.He was a former Aonia Fire Chief, and was a longtime member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Mr. Dunnaway is survived by his wife, Regina H. Dunnaway, of Washington; three sons, Wade Dunnaway (Lisa), of Washington, Curtis Holt, of Wrens, and Kevin Holt (Allison), of Appling; one daughter, Laura Epps, of Lincolnton; one brother, Alex Dunnaway, of Washington, and one siste,r Bonnie D. Brown, of Washington; eight grandchildren, and nine great grandhcildren.She was preceded in death by seven siblings: Louise Burt, Mamie Durham, Effie Teasley, Flora Ann McGill, Billy Dunnaway, Grace Dunnaway, and Jessie Raleigh Dunnaway. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Monday, March 28, 2022, at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. David Hagen officiating.Pallbearers will be Peyton McGill, Barry Goolsby, Wade Hall, Dan Durham, Tim Brown, and Bill Maxwell. Visitation will be Sunday evening, March 27, 2022, from 6-8pm at Hopkins Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt.
