Mr. Thomas Selwyn Appelt, 86, of Washington, died November 15, 2010 at Heritage Healthcare of Wilkes.He was a native of Manning, S. C., the son of the late John McLauren and Thomasine Sprott Appelt.He was a retail manager, a member of First United Methodist Church and served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 11:00am in First United Methodist Church with Rev. Gale Seibert officiating.Interment will follow in Resthaven Cemetery. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Maurine B. Appelt; sons and daughter in law, Thomas S. Appelt, Jr., Norcross and Richard C. and Doris Appelt, Thomson;daughter and son in law, Beverly and Steve Moon, Loganville; four grandchildren, Tanya Moon, Steven (Kelly) Moon, Jr., Christy Claybaugh and Richard (Carlynn) Appelt, II; four great grandchildren; one sister Sybil A. Holliday, Aiken, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First UMC, P.O. Box 518, Washington, Ga. 30673 The family will receive friends Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 7-9pm.
