Mrs. Susie Scoggins Winfrey Brenizer, 84, of Philomath Rd. in Rayle, entered into rest Thursday evening, January 13, 2022, at home surrounded by family. Mrs. Brenizer was born in Washington and had lived in Wilkes County for all of her life.She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Beatrice Corbett Scoggins, and was twice widowed-first by John Wilson Winfrey, and last by Jack Brenizer.She worked for a number of years at Royal Manufacturing Co., and then was a hairdresser/beautician for about 45 years. She was referred to by many of her clients and friends as “Miss Susie”.She was a long-time member of the Sardis Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by a step daughter, Debra Brenizer. She is survived by her three sons, Johnny Winfrey, Jeff Winfrey, and wife Gwen, and Scott Winfrey, all from Rayle; one brother, Fred Scoggins, of Kansas City, KS; one step daughter, Shirley B. Duvall, and husband Dan, of Greensboro; and by seven grandchildren: Craig Winfrey, Kim Winfrey, Dusty Winfrey, Haley Winfrey, Amy Winfrey, Rhett Winfrey, Jessica Albritton(Eric), Lori Hall, Alicia Kirk, and Jackie Duvall; and ten great grandchildren: Natalie Albritton, Kyle Albritton, Kaiden Cochran, Addi Kirk, Hannah Winfrey, Madison Winfrey, Cody Winfrey, Gabe Allread, Dustin Winfrey, and Riley Winfrey. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 Thursday, January 20, 2022, at the Hopkins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Newsome officiating. Visitation will be Thursday at Hopkins Funeral Home from 1:00 until the time of the service.Hopkins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Susie Scoggins Winfrey Brenizer.
