Steve Callaway

Mr. Stephen Phillip Callaway, 61, formerly of Washington, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009, in a work related accident in Louisiana. Mr. Callaway was born in Wilkes County and was the son of Milton and Harriett Blackwell Callaway.He was a self-employed tree surgeon, and served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War.He served one full year in Vietnam.He was a member of the Washington First Baptist Church.He was preceded in death by his father, Mit Callaway, and by a brother, Ronnie Callaway. A graveside memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at 3:00 at Resthaven Cemetery in Washington. Mr. Callaway is survived by two sons, Jeremie Callaway, Scottsdale, AL, and Anthony Callaway, of Salt Lake City, UT; one daughter, Audrey Davis, Rocky Mount, NC; his mother, Harriett B. Callaway, of Washington; one brother, Baron Callaway, of Orangeburg, SC; one sister, Beth Buller, of Washington; and four grandchildren.
