Mr. Simon Kelly Bridges, 86, of Washington, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2014 in Wills Memorial Hospital in Washington, Georgia. He was the son of the late Marshall Thomas and Gussie Hamm Fortson Bridges.He was a member of Sardis Baptist Church. Mr. Bridges served in the US Army Transportation Corps during The Korean Conflict. He was retired from REA where he was a supervisor for about 35 years.In March of 2013, he was preceded in death by his wife of almost sixty years, Mary Agnes Pitts Bridges Graveside services will be Friday, September 12, 2014 at 11:00am in Washington-Wilkes Memorial Gardens with Rev. Kevin Madden officiating. Grandsons, Michael Hardy, Chris Hardy, Marc Bridges, David Bridges, Josh Grimaudand I V Grimaudwill serve as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be The Rayle Electric Employees past and present. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery. Survivors include two sons, Donald Kelly Bridges and his wife, Tricia of Washington, James Thomas Bridges and his wife, Sandee, of Washington; two daughters, Donna Hardy and her husband, Mike of Washington, Victoria Grimaud, of High Point, NC; foursisters, Gennie Hammond, of Zion,IL , Laura Bridges, of Marietta, Elree Worley of Canton and Dorothy(Lawrence) Cecchini of Elberton;Eleven Grandchildren, Kristin B. Stevens (Greg), of Washington, Marc (Andie) Bridges, of Washington, Jenny Lynn Bridges, of Warrenton, David(Lauren) Bridges, of Washington, Allison Bridges, of Washington, Jessica Bridges, of Washington, Michael(Susan) Hardy, of Gainesville, Christopher (Monica) Hardy, of Washington, Andrea(Jeremy) Burgess, of Lincolnton, George Foster(Genna) Grimaud IV , of Washington and Josh(Karla) Grimaud, of Washington; 16 great grandchildren; and very special friends, Hal and Jeanette Howard, of Washington.
