Shirley W. Goldman, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Pruitt Health Care in Washington, GA. at the age of 87. She spent her final moments surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 19,1937, in Washington, Georgia.
Shirley was a high school graduate. Shirley's career was marked by her dedication and diverse talents. She worked at Garland Manufacturing and McDuffie Airport, served as a dispatcher for the Thomson Police Department, where she was known for her reliability and warmth. She was renowned for her delightful blackberry cakes, which she regularly brought to the local personal care home to share with residents. Shirley also enjoyed spending her quiet moments poring over word search puzzles, a pastime she found deeply engaging.
Faith was a guiding force in Shirley's life, and she was a devoted member of New Life Ministries, where she attended church and participated in various community activities.
Shirley is survived by her son, Michael Dwayne Goldman, of Thomson, GA; her siblings, Robert Darrell West (Peggy) of Washington, GA, and Mary West Hubbard Yearwood (Thomas) of White Plains, GA. Her legacy is carried on through her grandchildren, Megan Goldman, Zach Goldman (Hunter), Chance Goldman (Mary), Kayla Broome (Stephen), Catherine Tench (Mark), and Ryan Crookham as well as eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Shirley's life was marked by love and loss. Shirley was predeceased in death by her beloved husband, Robert Freddie Goldman; her parents, Daniel Everett West and Mable Chafin West; her daughter, Vickie Lynn Crookham; and her siblings, Marion Everett West, Shelton Edward West, and Dorothy Ann Rogers.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Hopkins Funeral Home. A service to honor and celebrate Shirley's life will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m., also at Hopkins Funeral Home. Arrangements are provided by Hopkins Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hopkins Funeral Home to help cover funeral cost.
Shirley W. Goldman will be deeply missed, but her warmth, compassion, and unwavering generosity will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
