Memorial services for Dr. Sarah Bamford Pelot will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, November 30, 2018, at the Independence United Methodist Church in Tignall, withRev.Jim Cantrell officiating.Dr. Pelot, 78, died on October 27, 2018, at Elberton Memorial Hospital, Elberton, Georgia.Interment was held at Independence United Methodist Church Cemetery. Dr. Pelot was born in Washington, Georgia to Dr. Sophia Boyd Bamford and Thomas Leslie Bamford. She attended schools in Washington and Augusta, Georgia, and graduated from Wellesley High School and Wellesley College, in Wellesley, Massachusetts.A graduate of Georgetown University School of Dentistry, Washington, DC, Dr. Pelot practiced dentistry in Washington, DC, and served as a forensic dentistry consultant for the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.Dr. Pelot was married to Captain Kent B. Pelot, U.S. Navy, Ret.She is survived by her husband, her children, Lara S. Pelot, Bolivar, MO, and Devin B. Pelot, Germantown, MD, and her grandchildren, Garrett D. Hopper and Amelia S. Pelot.
