Mrs. Sarah Gulley Hopkins Booker, 101, of Gainesville, formerly of Washington, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014.A native of Washington, she was the daughter of the late Jule and Lina Williams Gulley.After her first husband, Ralph Hopkins, died in 1973, she married Floyd Booker, who died in 1997.Mrs. Booker taught school in Wilkes County for thirty-seven years, first at Lumberg and then at Washington Elementary School.She also taught Sunday School for many years at First Baptist Church of Washington, where she was a member.She was a member of the Georgia Teachers Association. Graveside services will be Saturday, March 22nd at 11:00am in Resthaven Cemetery .Bill Hopkins, Jr., Sam Hopkins, Craig Sherrer, David Hopkins, John Hopkins and Mark Hopkins will serve as pallbearers. Survivors include one son Ralph D. Hopkins, Jr. and his wife, Joan Driskell Hopkins, of Gainesville; one daughter, Elizabeth Ann ‘Betty’ Hall, of Snellville; six grandchildren, Craig Willis Sherrer, Jan Elizabeth Sherrer Smith, John Driskell Hopkins, David Jason Hopkins, Michael Holloway Hopkins and Mark Davis Hopkins; and six great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Washington.
