Sara Marion Poss

Mrs. Sara Marion Combs Poss, 80, of Rayle, passed away May 13, 2014 in Georgia Regents Medical Center.A native of Rayle, she was the daughter of the late Acton and Essie Echols Combs and was the last surviving of nine children.She was also preceded in death by her husband, Newton C. Poss anda son, Ray Poss.Mrs. Poss was an active member of Carter’s Grove Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxillary. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00am in Carter’s Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Glen Hendley and Rev. Jimmy Chapman officiating.Brandt Vickery, Cody Brown, Shaun Carter, Justin Dooley, Josh Parker and Ronnie McAvoy will serve as pallbearers.Interment will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Willie Frank Blackburn, of Washington; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Kim Poss, Lexington, Jeff and Lori Poss, Winterville and James Poss, Fancy Gap, Virginia; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7-9pm at Hopkins Funeral Home.
