Sara Combs

Mrs. Sara McKee Combs, 73, of Winder, entered into rest Tuesday evening at Winder Health Care. Mrs. Combs was born in Greenville, SC but had lived in Wilkes County for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late James McKee and Robbie Payne McKee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Combs and one daughter, Denise Ferrall. She was retired and had spent most of her life working as a caretaker.Mrs. Combs was a member of Smyrna United Methodist Church and was also a member of the VFW, Post 5899 ladies auxiliary. She is survived by one daughter, Dana Mirza, of Athens; one son, Thomas Combs, of Pelham, GA; three grandchildren, Celia Epps (Tony Spartlin), of Colbert, John Epps, Jr., of Athens, Randall Epps, of Monroe; nine great grandchildren, Haileigh Hogan, Michael Wolfe, Emily Wolf, Cayson Spratlin, Caylin Spratlin, all of Colbert; Chasity Epps, Madison Epps, Scottlyn Epps And Gracelyn Epps, all of Monroe; a special friend; John Karr, of Winder. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, August 27, 2017, at Smyrna United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Broome officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service on Sunday (2:00- 3:00 PM). Pallbearers will be John Epps Sr., Greg Fanning, Randall Epps, John Kelley, Ernest Bo Mceathron III and Billy Hopkins.
