Sara W. Albea Sara Nell Winfrey Albea, age 88, of Forest Park, Georgia passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015.Sara was born April 17, 1927 in Rayle, Georgia, the daughter of the late George L. Winfrey and Eva Winfrey.She attended school in Rayle, Georgia, the town where she met her loving husband, Kenneth Albea of 67 years.She retired from Edmond’s Elementary School in Forest Park where she worked in the cafeteria.Sara loved the Lord, read her Bible often, and has been a member of Beulah Baptist Church since August 1960.Her favorite Bible verse was, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God ..." Ephesians 2:8.She spent many summers in the small town of Beulah, Georgia enjoying her passion of tending to a huge garden with Ken on Gills Point Road.Serving her community, often donating fresh and canned vegetables to friends and family was one of her trademarks.Her canned green beans were absolutely the best.Sara loved cooking, canning, fishing, crocheting, and telling stories of the past to her family.In addition, she adored and cherished family antiques and heirlooms and was very thrifty, often making brooms out of sawgrass.Sara was known for her delicious salmon patties and biscuits, yellow squash casserole, butternut squash casserole, meatloaf, and "sugar" tea.In earlier years, she would show off her green thumb by growing enormous ferns, African violets, and hydrangeas. Sara is survived by her husband, Hugh Kenneth Albea of Forest Park, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Anthony (Bobby) McDaniel of Monticello, Georgia; son and daughter–in-law Michael and Beverly Albea of Jonesboro, Georgia; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Maude Winfrey and brother Eugene (Gene) Winfrey, of Rayle, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place in the Sanctuary at Beulah Baptist Church, Tignall, Georgia 30668 on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 from 11:00-11:45. Graveside service, officiated by Reverend Larry Martin to follow at 12:00 noon. . Simple refreshments will be offered in the Family Life Center afterward.
