Mrs. Ruth Ann Skinner Frasier, 69, of N. Alexander Ave., died Friday, September 9, 2016, at University Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Christopher Frasier, and by her son, Jeremy Frasier, both of Washington; and by two sisters, Kathryn Millington, and Barbara Millis, both of Corinth, NY. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Sunday evening, September 11, 2016, at Hopkins Funeral Home.The funeral service will be PRIVATE. Mrs. Frasier was born in Shinnston, WV, and had lived in Washington for about 9 years.She was the daughter of Harry Skinner and Rosetta Bird Skinner.She had a Masters in Journalism, and was a published poet. She had four individual books of poetry published and has several poems in mixed books with other poets that have also been published.While in New York, she was deeply involved in helping troubled teenage girls that wound up in the court system and needed a place to stay until their cases could be heard.She served as kind of a foster parent.She would take them in to give them food and shelter while she mentored them, and would do this until their court dates came up. She and her husband also housed foreign exchange students during their summers and sometimes for their whole school year.Mrs. Frasier ran the Old Georgia Antique Shop in Washington.She had the gift of sensing when people were down and needed a little help and would give them small gifts or food that she felt might help them.She also would often take eggs to the Fire Department for them to fix for their breakfasts.
