Mrs. Rua Bell Orr Davis, 91, of Washington, passed away February 7, 2014 at home.The daughter of the late John and Amanda Carringer Orr, she was born on April 13, 1922, in Graham County, North Carolina. She moved to Washington in 1960 and was the wife of Ray Davis for forty seven years before he passed away.Mrs. Davis was also preceded in death by her four sisters, Bertha Davis, Grace Phillips, Leliar Massey and Julie Carver, all of Robbinsville, NC and two grandsons, Wayne Lowell Davis and Parker Jones.Mrs. Davis was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church in Robbinsville, NC and attended Victory Baptist Church in Washington, when her health allowed.She was an avid crafter.She crocheted afghans and made many quilts for family and friends.She enjoyed reading, baking and gardening and loved watching sports, especially the UNC Tarhills. Funeral services will be Sunday, February 9th at 3:00pm in Victory Baptist Church with Pastor Jimmy Chapman officiating.Ron Prince, Stan Prince, Philip Davis, Nicholas Abney, Charlie Jones, Thomas Roth and Sam Bradley will serve as pallbearers.Interment will follow in Resthaven Cemetery. Survivors include four children and their spouses, Eloise Conner and Bill of Clayton, GA, Wayne Davis and Vicki Lee of Athens, Judy Kirkland and Bob of Washington and Peggy Jones and John of Washington; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Kay Nicklow and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6-8pm at Hopkins Funeral Home.
