Mr. Roy Jordan Harrison, 90, of N. Hulin Ave. in Tignall, passed away Monday evening, April 30, 2018, at Augusta University Medical Center. Mr. Harrison was born in Tignall and had lived there all of his life.He was the son of the late Roy and Ruby Jordan Harrison.He was the widower of Dorothy Armour Harrison, and was a beef farmer.Mr. Harrison was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWII.He was a member of the Wilkes County Cattlemen’s Association and was on the Board of Directors at Southern States.He was a member of the Wilkes County Young Farmers, a former Tignall City Councilman, and was a former member of the Tignall Volunteer Fire Department.He was a member of the Independence United Methodist Church, where he had been a Trustee and a former Chairman of the Board.He was preceded in death by a son, John Harrison. Mr. Harrison is survived by one son, Don J. Harrison (Susan), of Mt. Pleasant, SC; one daughter, Cissy H. Rogers (Clyde), of Tignall; five grandchildren, Betsy Denard, Nathan Harrison, Brooke Dawson, Andrew Harrison, and Josh Bufford; and six great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Sam Harrison, Nathan Harrison, Drew Harrison, Josh Bufford, Myles Dawson, Thom Denard, and Raymond Porter. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Friday, May 4, 2018, at the Tignall Independence United Methodist Church with Rev. Ben Walker and Rev. Thomas Kohlenberg officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, May 3, 2018, from 6-8pm at Hopkins Funeral Home.
