Roger Walker

March 12, 1943 — July 6, 2012

Mr. Charles Roger Walker, 69, of Washington, died July 6, 2012. A native of Washington, Georgia, he was the son of the late Charlie Pratt and Mary Frances Guin Walker. Mr. Walker retired from F & M Bank after forty years of service but continued to serve on the Board of Directors. He was a member of Fishing Creek Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Board of Deacons and as Treasurer for twenty-seven years. He was a member of the Washington Rotary Club, the Washington LaFayette Masonic Lodge, The Washington Historical Society, The Washington Little Theatre, the Civil War Roundtable, The Washington-Wilkes Chamber of Commerce and was a past member of the Wills Memorial Hospital Foundation and the Washington-Wilkes Jaycees. Funeral services will be Monday, July 9th at 11:00am in Fishing Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Ficklen Guin and Rev. Roy Cates officiating. Mike Lindsey, Roddie Guin, Bob Guin, Keith Ware, Barrett Ware and Bruce Ware will serve as pallbearers. The Deacons of the Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites administered by members of the LaFayette Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife of over forty-nine years, Vivian Ware Walker; son and daughter in law, Mark and Cynthia Walker, of Washington; daughters and sons in law, Rosemary and Billy Caddell, of Washington and Amy and Shane Moore, of Washington; brother, Randy Walker and his wife, Patti, of Sun City, California; Mother in Law, Rose Ware, of Washington; grandchildren, Ford Walker, Wilkes Walker, Olivia Lyons, Jackson Lyons, Dixon Caddell, Lindsey Moore and Walker Moore; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7-9pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Fishing Creek Baptist Church or to the Wills Memorial Hospital Foundation.
