Robert "Possum" Wilson

Mr. Robert Clarence Wilson better known as “Possum” or “Bobby”, 75, of Tignall, passed away Monday, January 1, 2018, at University Hospital in Augusta, GA. Mr. Wilson was born September 15, 1942, in Washington, and had lived in the Tignall community all of this life. He was the son of the late Robert Claude and Louise Smith Wilson.Mr. Wilson was retired from the granite industry.He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved his family very much. Mr. Wilson was the husband of Vivie Ann Bufford Wilson and had been married for 51 years. He was a member of Mallorysvile Baptist Church where he also served as a Deacon for 45 years.He was the Assistant Chief and 1964 founding member of the Tignall Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Wilson also had a love for sports, and was a founding member of the Tignall Church Softball League. Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Vivie Ann Bufford Wilson, of Tignall; one daughter, Angie W. Thornton (Mark), of Tignall; two grandchildren, Laney Elizabeth Thornton and Jackson Alexander Thornton, of Tignall. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Wednesday, January 3, 2018 in the Mallorysville Baptist Church with Rev. Donny Berry, Rev. Phil Campbell and Rev. Roy Cates officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Jack Bentley, Joe Burton, Ryan Burton, Ben Echols, Marc Hammond, Chet Wilson, Jerome Wilson and Neal Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Aycock, Deacons of Mallorysville Baptist Church, Tignall Volunteer Fire Department and Mr. Wilson’s Tignall Breakfast Club Buddies. Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon at the church from 2:00 pm until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Mallorysville Baptist Church, 199 Bunch Rd.
