Robert Gary Hoffman

Robert (Bob) Gary Hoffman, 74, of Natal, Brazil, passed away on February 11, 2022, after a brief illness.  Bob was born in Washington, Georgia, on May 30, 1947, to Aage Johannes and Gladys Smith Hoffman of Washington.

After graduating Washington Wilkes High School in the class of 1965, Bob attended Augusta College. He then felt the call to serve his country and joined the United States Navy, serving in Florida, Maryland, and Maine. Soon after leaving the Navy, Bob joined the team at Edison Plastics. He moved his family several times around the southeastern United States as he advanced in positions at Edison Plastics.

He left Edison Plastics when he was offered a position with Clopay Plastics Products Co. in Mason, OH. When Clopay decided to expand to include a plant in Jundiai, Brazil, Bob was chosen for the task. He oversaw the creation of the new business from the groundbreaking, the hiring and training of employees, and the successful operation of the plant. Bob was described by his team in Jundiai as being able to win the hearts of the entire team with his kind business manner. Bob was Managing Director until his retirement in 2010.

Bob loved water and boats. In his free time, he could often be found with a fishing rod in his hand at the nearest lake or river.

He is survived by his wife, Ana Cristina Reino; ex-wife, Sherron Rogers Hoffman, the mother of his children; daughter Rhonda Lynn Meakim of Greenwood, South Carolina; son Michael Hoffman (Cecilia) of Pyeongtaek, South Korea; grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Stubbeman (Kyle), Casey Douglas Frame and Robert Lewyn Hoffman; one brother, Richard Hoffman (Carol) of Rabun Gap, GA; sisters, Beth Bunch (Tommy) and Judy Denard (Greg) of Washington; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two nephews.

A Celebration of Life Memorial services will be on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at the Hopkins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeff Lethco officiating.  The family will receive friends on Sunday for one hour prior to the service. (from 2:00-2:55 p.m.)
