Robert M. "Buck" Echols

Mr. Robert Morgan “Buck” Echols, 74, of Philomath Rd., died Tuesday evening, December 6, 2016, at University Hospital. Mr. Echols was born in Rayle and had lived here all of his life.He was the son of the late Morgan Echols and Mattie Lou Williamson Echols.Buck was a District Foreman at Rayle EMC, and was a member of the County Line Baptist Church. Buck was an avid fan of Tiger Football from his playing days on, and was a big supporter of the Washington-Wilkes Tiger Club.He enjoyed golf, loved his Rayle EMC co-workers, and was truly loved by all! He is survived by his wife, Linda M. Echols, of Rayle; three daughters, Angela C. Armour (Greg), of Rayle; Cissy E. Smith (Scott), of Washington, and Lou E. Heard (Richard), of Rayle; one sister, Billie Sue Roberts (Milton), of Washington; seven grandchildren, Samantha Callaway, Cody Armour, Hunter Armour, Abby Smith, J.T. Smith, MattieHeard, and Hank Heard; and three great grandchildren, Emma Callaway, Ava Callaway, Bree Long. Memorial services will be 11:00am Friday, December 9, 2016, at the County Line Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Newsome and Chris Townsend officiating.Honorary pallbearers will be retired and active Rayle EMC Linemen . The family will receive friends Thursday evening, December 8, from 6-8pm at Hopkins Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Washington-Wilkes Tiger Club.
