Robert "Bob" Henry Kirkland

Robert “Bob” Henry Kirkland, age 73, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend. He passed away peacefully late evening on Monday,October 18, at Piedmont Hospital in Athens, GA. His battle with many serious health issues showed his courage and spirit for facing life’s challenges with a smile. (With or without teeth!) Despite the pain, he stayed strong until the very end and was able to express his gratitude and love for his family. Bob was born in Washington, GA on April 22, 1948. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joyce Dallas Kirkland and Henry Kirkland. He is survived by his caring wife of 45 years, Judy Davis Kirkland, and by his two daughters Amanda Kirkland Smith of Washington and Angela Kirkland Kling (Doug) of Atlanta. Bob was also a proud “Papa” to Chase and Jackson Smith. He is also survived by his two sisters Dianne Scott (Linton) and Linda Kirkland of Washington, GA,along with his sisters’ in-law Eloise Conner (Bill) , Peggy Davis Jones (John), brother-in law Wayne Davis (Vicki); and by a number of nieces and nephews. Bob was an avid fisherman and sports fan. He was always just a phone call away and remained connected to many lifelong friends in the community. His sharp wit and personality will be missed dearly by those that knew him. Visitation will be held at Hopkins Funeral Home on Friday October 22 from 12:30-2:00 followed by a short ceremonyat 2PM.
