Robert Bailey

Mr. Robert Lee Bailey, 93, of Augusta, died Monday, October 2, 2017, at his home. Mr. Bailey was born in Lincoln County and had lived in Augusta for 53 years.He was the son of the late Joel R. Bailey and Mae Walker Bailey.He was the husband of Janis Florence Bailey, was a retired Army Master Sergeant, after having served during WW II and the Korean Conflict.After serving his country for over 30 years, he retired after 34 years of service at the DuPont Bomb Plant in plant security. He was a member of the National Hills Baptist Church in Augusta. He is survived by his wife, Janis Florence Bailey, of Augusta; 2 daughters, Beverly B. Beddingfield (Elwyn), of Martinez, and Ellen Leonforte, N. Augusta; five grandchildren, Dawn L. Galloway, Gary Beddingfield, Jan B. Embry, Amy L. Newton, and Eric Beddingfield; and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Friday, October 6, 2017, at Beulah Baptist Church in Tignall with Rev. Kevin Steele officiating.Burial with full military honors will follow in the church cemetery.Visitation will be Friday from 2:30-3:00pm at the church. Pallbearers will be two grandsons, Gary Beddingfield and Eric Beddingfield; and four great grandsons, Trey Galloway, Tim Galloway, Jackson Embry, and Garrick Embry.
