Richard Michael Bennett

Mr. Richard Michael “Mike” Bennett, 61, of Spring St. In Washington, entered into rest on January 6, 2021, after a valiant battle with cancer. Mr. Bennett was born in California on May 31, 1959, but lived out his childhood in Birmingham, Ala..He was the son of the late Bill and Cynthia Opal White Bennett.He moved to Georgia after his marriage to his wife Susan in 2008.Mike loved his country, and joined the U.S. Navy right out of high school.He was often deployed on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Forrestal.After the Navy, Mike earned a degree in Electronics from Virginia Technical Institute, and worked with the Intergraph Computer industry. Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife, Susan Bennett, of Washington; one brother, Mack Bennett, and wife Valerie, of Alabama; one son, Joshua Bennett; one daughter, Amanda B. Barksdale, and husband James; and by his two grandchildren, Will Duda and Bennett Barksdale.
