Mrs. Rebecca Scott Echols, 92, of Flat Rock Rd., Tignall, entered into rest on Monday, January 11, 2021, at Elbert Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Echols was born in Elbert County, but had lived in Wilkes County for most of her life.She was the daughter of Lawrence Orr Scott and Martha Elizabeth Moore Scott, and was the widow of Mr. James E. Echols.She graduated from the Tignall High School, and had worked at Royal Manufacturing Co. and at ALMAR in Tignall.She was the first female school bus driver in Wilkes County, and did secretarial work at Washsington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School for the lunchroom and the office.She was a member of the Tabor Baptist Church in Tignall. Mrs. Echols is survived by three sons, Jim Echols (Linda), of Shelby, NC, Steve Echols (Marie), of Tignall, and Glen Echols (Jane) of Tignall; one daughter, Becky E. Wilson (Jerome), of Tignall; one sister, Mary Jane Pyron, of Hampton; twelve grandchildren, Brandon Echols, Laura E. Wellman, Blain Echols, Dr. Merritt E. McLaughlin, Taylor Echols, Graham Echols, Jordan Echols, Jesse E. Hardigree, Vanessa W. Patrick, Kyle Wilson, Clete Wilson, and Drew Wilson; and 15 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 11:00a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2021, at the Tabor Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Paul Reviere officiating.There will be a visitation/viewing in the Tabor Baptist Church for one hour starting at 10:00a.m. Masks and social distancing are encouraged. Pallbearers will be Brandon Echols, Graham Echols, Taylor Echols, Blain Echols, Kyle Wilson, Clete Wilson, Drew Wilson, and Brian Hardigree.
