Reba Thornton Mrs. Annie Reba Hendrix Thornton, 78, of Washington, died May 5, 2012 in Wills Memorial Hospital.A native of Washington, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late William Grady and Mary Agnes Barrett Hendrix.Mrs. Thornton was a homemaker and a bookkeeper for Thornton Brothers Logging Company.She was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for almost sixty years, and served as WMU Director and VBS Director also for many, many years.She was a member of the NRA and Kettle Creek Rifle and Pistol Club and served as fundraising chairperson for the Heart and Cancer Associations on numerous occasions. Reba was known to be an excellent seamstress and made several wedding gowns, and bridesmaids dresses, as well as costumes for Christmas Pageants.She also loved to read. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Fannie Mae Hodge and her beloved dog, Rusty, died one week prior to her passing. Funeral services will be Monday, May 7th at 11:00a.m. in Rehoboth Baptist Church with Rev. Stephen Rayner officiating.Interment will follow in the church cemetery.Mark Thornton, Robert Thornton, Steve Poston, Dylan Echols, Nicholas Corns, tony Corns, Ben Echols, Jonathan Sebold and Amanda Brooks will serve as pallbearers. Survivors include her husband of sixty two years, Eugene ‘Gene’ Thornton; sons and daughters in law, Gene and Caroline Thornton, Jr.,Washington,Danny and Alice Thornton, Crawfordville, Neil Thornton, Washington; Daughter and son in law, Cynthia and J.R. Jackson, Augusta; grandchildren and spouses, Mark and Angie Thornton, Tammy and Ben Echols, Michele and Daniel Woodward, Rebecca and Jonathan Sebold, Steven and Erin Poston, Tracey and Tony Corns, Robert and Jill Thornton and Amanda and James Brooks;sixteen great grandchildren; sisters and spouses, Ruth Rogers, Washington, Marjorie and Zan Bunch, Tignall, Mary Burt, Washington, Patricia and Mike Lindsey, Kennesaw,and Kathy Hendrix, Thomson; and one brother, Richard and June Hendrix, Ormond Beach, Florida. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5-7pm at the funeral home.
