Perry Benning

Mr. Millard Perry Benning, Jr., 82, of Berkshire Dr., passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017, at McDuffie/University Hospital in Thomson. Mr. Benning, known by his friends and acquaintances as Perry, was born in Richmond County, but had lived in Washington for most of his life.He was the son of the late Millard P. Benning, Sr. and Vivian Potter Benning.He was the husband of Helen Hopkins Benning, and they had been married for 60 years.Perry was a barber and had cut hair in Washington for about 50 years before retiring in 2005.Mr. Benning was a proud veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. . Funeral services will be 4:00pm Wednesday, September 20, 2007 at Hopkins Funeral Home.Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.Pallbearers will be David Harris, Mercer Harris, Curry Hogan III, Kyle Bearse, James Kerswell, and Matthew Jordan. Mr. Benning is survived by his wife, Helen H. Benning, of Washington; one daughter, Lisa B. Morrison (Lee), of Martinez; one grandson, Stephen Morrison, and special friends Kelly and Evan Cooper; two sisters, Sarah B. Snyder, of Columbus, and Peggy B Martin, of Hamilton; and by a number of nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death byhis brother, Tony Benning. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00PM-8:00PMat Hopkins Funeral Home.
