Overton Winfrey

Claude Overton Winfrey, Jr., 53, of Courtground Rd., died Sunday, April 26, 2015. Mr. Winfrey was born in Washington and had lived in this community all of his life.He was the son of the late Claude Overton Winfrey and Mary Edmunds Winfrey.He was a lab Technician at Berry Plastics for a number of years.He enjoyed golf and was an avid and excellent fisherman, and was a member of the Sardis Baptist Church. Graveside services will be Friday, May 1, 2015, at 2:00pm at the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jim Newsome officiating. Mr. Winfrey is survived by two sisters, Deborah Winfrey Nye, of Augusta, and Letisha Winfrey Thompson, of Rayle; and by a number of nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7-9 at Hopkins Funeral Home.
