Nellie M. Turpin

Ms. Nellie Mae Chafin Turpin, 91, of S. Jefferson St., died Monday afternoon, December 18, 2017, at her home. Mrs. Turpin was born in Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late Miles and Willie Pearl Gresham Chafin, and had lived here all of her life.She was the widow of Robert A. Turpin, had worked at Royal Manufacturing Company for a number of years, and had been a member of the Washington Chapel. She is survived by one daughter, Carol T. Thomason, of Washington; one son, Robert Allen Turpin, of Washington; two brothers, Clifford Alvin Chafin (June), and Malcolm W. Chafin (Elizabeth), both of Washington; and by three grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Hopkins Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Hughes officiating.Burial will follow at the Washington-Wilkes Memorial Gardens.There will be a brief period of visitation on Wednesday morning from 10:30 until the time of the service at Hopkins Funeral Home.
