Mrs. Mildred Saxon Sisson, 90, of Tignall, entered into rest Saturday morning at the Tignall House Personal Care Home. Mrs. Sisson was born in Tignall, and had lived in Wilkes County for all of her life.She was the daughter of the late Isham and Mary Gill Saxon, and was the widow of Mr. Carl E. Sisson, Sr.She was a CNA and had worked at CSRA Home Health for a number of years.She is remembered by many as having been a correspondant for the News Reporter, where she reported the Rayle News, and did many in depth articles on local families and personalities from Wilkes County or onpeople that had connections to Wilkes County.She was a longtime member of the Beaverdam Baptist Church. She had been a member of the Rayle Lunch and Learn group, and taught GAs for years when she was younger.She had always had a great love for people, her church, and also loved her telephone. She is survived by one daughter, Gloria S. Wheatley (Tommy), of Rayle; one son, Carl E. Sisson, Jr. (Vickie), of Washington; one sister-in-law, Annis Saxon, of Hodges SC; one grandson, Richard Allen McAvoy (Lisa), of Rayle; two great grandchildren, Taylor McAvoy, Athens, and Amy McAvoy, of Dahlonega.She was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Lee McAvoy. Graveside services will be 4:00pm on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at the Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery.Because Mrs. Sisson was a cancer survivor, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, or to a local cancer related fund.
