Michael Eric Thornton

Mr. Michael Eric Thornton, 46, of Colbert, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2019. Mr. Thornton was born in Augusta, and had lived in Wilkes County most of his life.He was the husband of Brandy Ingram Thornton, was a truck driver, and was a member of the ATHS (American Truck Historical Society).Eric attended the Washington Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, Brandy I. Thornton, of Colbert; two daughters, Samantha T. Searels, and husband, Terry, of Lincolnton, and Megan Thornton, of Colbert; his father, Michael W. Thornton, and wife Lillie, of Washington; his mother, Debbie Cofer, of Washington; two brothers, Nicholas Thornton, and wife Deana, of Milledgeville, and Adam Thornton, and wife, Natalie, of Augusta; one sister, Samantha T. Henderson, of Tignall; and step-mother, Melody Bufford, and husband, Mike, of Tignall. Graveside services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, December 15, 2019, at Resthaven Cemetery with Rev. Glenn Kohlhagen officiating.The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00-2:40 PM at Hopkins Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Chuck Denard, Doug Denard, Brett Thornton, Kenny Wilson, Haden Eady, David Meadows, Nicky Black. Hopkins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
