Michael (Mike) Lynn Davis

Mr. Michael (Mike) Lynn Davis, 66, of 115 Auburn Ave. in Washington, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018, at the Echols Personal Care Home in Rayle. Mike was a native of Canton, NC, and had lived in Washington for twenty years. He was the son of Roy Fred Davis and Clara Wright Davis, and was the husband of Teresa Riches Davis. He served in the U.S. Army for 29 years, retiring as a Command Sergeant Major.He served as the Chief of Police in Washington, Ga., for a number of years. He was a Mason, a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and was a member of the Washington First United Methodist Church.The family wishes to thank the citizens of Washington for their prayers and support during Mike’s illness, and extend a special thanks to Joanne Echols and Ruby Booth for their loving care during Mike’s short stay with them at Echols Personal Care Home in Rayle. He is survived by his wife, Teresa R. Davis, of Washington; one daughter, Lisa D. Fisher (Todd), of Canton, NC; three sons, Michael Davis, Jr. (Sammi), of Leavenworth, KS, and Benjamin M. Davis and Jacob T. Davis, both of Washington; six grandchildren; one sister, Deborah Phillips, of Canton, NC; and two brothers, Darrell Davis (Kathy) and Danny Davis, both of Canton, NC. A local visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Hopkins Funeral Home, after which Mike will be taken to Crawford/Ray Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens in Canton, NC, for a funeral service on Friday, July 20, 2018, at Calvary Baptist Church in Canton.Interment will follow at Bonaventure Cemetery in Canton.
