Mr. Melvin Lewis Johnson, 77, of Rachel Lane in Washington, passed away Monday morning at his home. Mr. Johnson was born in Washington, Ga., and was the husband of Susan Sikes Johnson.He was the son of the late M. L. (Jack) Johnson and Rachel Callaway Johnson, and was a retired electrician with Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins.He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and was a member of the New Life Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Susan S. Johnson, of Washington; four daughters, Teresa J. Shirley (Tim), of Clarkesville, Christie J. Nelson (Mike), of Forest Park, Melba J. Radford (Michael), of Warner Robins, and Lisa Deen Wheeler, of Blackshear; one son, Corey Deen (Caassandra), of Claxton; thirteen grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Edwards Johnson, by his brother, William A. Johnson, and by his youngest grandson, Kyle M. Nelson. Funeral services will be at 3:00pm Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at the New Life Baptist Church with Rev. Arthur Key officiating.Visitation will also be Wednesday at the church from 1:00pm until 2:45pm. Active pallbearers will be Russ Johnson, Jonathan Radford, Corey Deen, Donnie Radford, Michael Radford, and Nathaniel Hofman.Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Shirley and Mike Nelson.
