Melissa Karen Hunter

Melissa Karen Poss Hunter, 70, of Washington, entered into rest Saturday morning, June 10, 2023, at Wills Memorial Hospital.

Melissa was born on May 12, 1953 in Washington to Willie D. Poss and Willie Lou Thompson Poss, and was the wife of Franklin “Frankie” Hunter.  She formerly worked at Essex Manufacturing Company in the packaging Department, along with being a homemaker.  She loved flowers and spending time with her family.  She was crazy about her dogs, cats, and horses, and was a huge Elvis and Vince Gill fan.

She is survived by her husband, Franklin “Frankie” Hunter, of Washington; one son, Jody Hunter, also of Washington; two daughters, Tara H. Johnson (Ron), and Mandy H. Roberson (Scotty), both of Lincolnton; two sisters, Mary P. Taylor and Vicki P. Starr (Jim), both of Madison; eleven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at The Chapel of Hopkins Funeral Home. The family will visit with friends immediately following the service..
