Mrs. Mary Ruth King Phillips, 78, of Skull Shoals Rd. in Washington, passed away Monday morning, February 3, 2020, at Doctors Hospital in Augusta. Mrs. Phillips was born in Brunswick, Ga., and had lived in Washington for about 15 years.She was the daughter of Johnny and Marindy Middleton King, and was the widow of Mr. Frankie L. Phillips.She had worked as a clerk for a number of years at Scottsman, who made ice machines. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Washington, loved rocking in her chair in the warm sunshine, and enjoyed singing in the St. Joseph Choir. She is survived by two sons, Vincent Phillips (Laura), of Appling, and Vance C. Phillips (Deirdra), of Lincolnton; one daughter, Indie Charlene Smith (Scott), of Hampton, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Brandon Phillips, Kyle Phillips, Joshua Phillips, Brittany Pedroza, Indie Edson, Cale Phillips, and Corey Smith; and five great grandchildren, Violet Phillips, Layla Phillips, Roy Pedroza, Warren Edson, and Emil Pedroza. There will be a visitation from 6-8pm Wednesday evening, February 5, 2020, at Hopkins Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00pm on Thursday, February 6, 2020, at the Church of God of Prophecy in Nixville, S.C., along with a visitation for one hour prior to the service at the church.Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
