Mrs. Mary Jane Long McAvoy, 79, of Quaker Spring Rd. in Washington, Ga., passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018, at Wills Memorial Hospital. Mrs. McAvoy was born in Tignall, and had lived here most of her life.She was the daughter of the late George Rush Long and Ruby Marie Smalley Long, and was the wife of Thomas McAvoy, Jr. She had worked as a supervisor at Royal Manufacturing Company, but had always been a homemaker.Mrs. McAvoy was a longtime member of the Phillips Mill Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Thomas McAvoy, Jr.; two daughters, Dawn M. Moore, (Sam), of Washington, and Mary Donna McAvoy, of Bethlehem; two sons, Benji McAvoy (Sherri), and Brett McAvoy (Tracy), both of Washington; one sister, Ruby L. Nicholson, of Montgomery, AL; eleven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Sunday, August 19, 2018, at Phillips Mill Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Rayner and Rev. Mark Woods officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.Visitation will be Sunday, August 19, 2018, at the church from 2:00pm until the time of the service.
