Mary Irene Echols

Mrs. Mary Irene Powell Echols, 79, of Washington, died Monday, May 9, 2011, at her home. Mrs. Echols was a native of Lincoln County and was a retired secretary.She was the wife of Mr. Walter Marion Echols, and was the daughter of the late Johnny Powell and Mabel Danner Powell Guin.She was a member of the Tignall Baptist Church. Mrs. Powell is survived by her husband, Walter Marion Echols, of the home; two sons, Barry (Cheryl) Echols and Jerry Echols, both of Washington; one daughter, Sherrell (Joel) Stringer, of Tampa, FL; three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Graveside services will be Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Washington-Wilkes Memorial Garden with Rev. Bob Nash officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tignall Baptist Church, P.O. Box 236, Tignall, GA 30668.
