Mary Bernice Mcavoy

Mrs. Mary Bernice Combs McAvoy, 90, of Washington, died November 12, 2012 in Heritage Healthcare of Wilkes.A native of Washington, she was the daughter of the late Acton Newell and Essie Mae Echols Combs and the widow of Lloyd Tucker McAvoy.Mrs. McAvoy was retired from Almar Zeuss Manufacturing Company.She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry A. McAvoy. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 11:0a.m. in Hopkins Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Chapman officiating.Interment will follow in Resthaven Cemetery.Eddie Harper, Keith McAvoy, Trey McAvoy, Kenneth Poss, Greg Fanning and Alvin Cox will serve as pallbearers. Survivors include sons and daughter in law, Ronnie and Diane McAvoy, of Martinez, Robert McAvoy, of Lascassas, TN and Michael McAvoy, of Washington; daughters and son in law, Gail and Reggie Galbreath, of Appling and Carolyn Alexander, of Murfreesboro, TN; one sister, Marion Poss, of Rayle; 12 grand-children, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6-8pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
