Marvin Dave Armour

Marvin Dave Armour, lovingly known to his family and friends as Bo, a cherished resident of Washington, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the age of 100, at the Georgia War Veterans Home in Augusta, GA. Born in Rayle, Georgia, on Monday, June 30, 1924, Marvin was a beloved member of his community and will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Marvin spent his formative years in Rayle and graduated from Washington High School on North Alexander. He began his professional life at the Armour Store in Rayle before holding positions at Colonial and Gurley's, eventually retiring as a produce manager at Terry’s IGA. An honorable veteran, Marvin served in the Navy during World War II, bravely contributing to efforts in the South Pacific.

Marvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Blanche Peterman Armour, his brother John Thomas (Jack) Armour, sister Lib A. Lunsford, and his devoted parents, Dave Gordon Armour and Josephine Gant Armour.

He is survived by his loving sons, David N. Armour and wife Christi of Washington, GA, and Robert O. (Bobby) Armour and wife Sheila of Hilton Head, SC. Marvin's legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Theresa Armour of Washington, GA, Amy Perkins and husband Mark of Braselton, GA, and Sterling Armour Shealy and wife Lynn of Bluffton, SC. He will also be fondly remembered by his great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Morgan and husband Colby, Gavin Armour, Brittany Shealy, and Madison Shealy, as well as his great-great-grandchildren, Kaylee Morgan, Ashton Valero, Alex Burnett, Shawn Metcalf, Jesse Morgan, Nova Morgan, and Kasen Shealy. His beloved sister, Joan Durham, and her husband Leo Perras of Kennesaw, GA, also survive him.

Visitation for Marvin will be held on Sunday, January 26, from 1-2 PM at Hopkins Funeral Home, followed by a service at 2 PM, officiated by Rev. Jim Newsome and Belinda McElroy. Interment will follow at Rock Methodist Church in Rayle, GA.

Honoring Marvin’s memory as pallbearers will be Sterling Shealy, Mark Perkins, Benji McAvoy, Greg Armour, Justin Armour, and Jack Thurmond. His great-great-grandson, Alex Burnett, will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Rock Methodist Church in care of David Armour, 234 Pennington Court, Washington, GA 30673. This gesture would honor Marvin's lifelong commitment to his faith and community.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hopkins Funeral Home. Marvin’s life was a testament to dedication, family values, and service to his community and country. He leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
