Marshall Allen Mcavoy

Mr. Marshall Allen McAvoy, 68, of U.S. Hwy 29 in Athens, died at home on December 6, 2017. Mr. McAvoy was born in Wilkes County and had lived in the Athens area for the last 25 years.He was the son of the late Jacob Wiley (J.W.) McAvoy and Ailene Bridges McAvoy.He worked for Clarke County Road Maintenance, and was a graduate of Washington-Wilkes High School.He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Lee McAvoy. Allen is survived by one son, Richard McAvoy (Lisa), of Washington; and by two granddaughters, Taylor Elizabeth McAvoy and Amy Nicole McAvoy. Memorial services will be 11:00am Saturday, December 16, 2017, at Hopkins Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Townsend officiating.
