It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marjorie W. Rogers, who departed this world on Thursday, February 27th, 2025, at the age of 99. Marjorie was a beloved member of the Washington, GA community, where she lived a life rich with love, warmth, and cherished memories. She was a member of Tignall Baptist Church for many years.
Born on December 4th, 1925, in Rayle, Georgia to the late R.C. Whittington and Rosa Lee Sherrer Whittington. Marjorie lived through nearly a century of change, witnessing remarkable events and innovations, but always remained anchored in her unyielding love for family and friends. She was a beacon of kindness, known for her compassionate nature and her willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Survivors include her two sons, Clyde Rogers (Cissy) and Darrell Rogers (Gay) both of Tignall, Georgia, 10 grandchildren, Felicia Thornton (Chad), Jill Guin (Chris), Carey Anderson (Jason), Stacey Carter (Casey), Brantley "Bubba" Rogers (Lindsey), Jennifer Rogers (James), Christopher Rogers (Katie), Jonathan Rogers (Ashlyn), Joseph Rogers (Klarissa) and Jack Rogers, 11 great grandchildren, Grier Carter, Samuel Anderson (Allie), Aubrey Anderson, Mason Thornton, Emerson Carter, Maggie Thornton, Brantley Rogers, Gilbert "Gil" Davis, Brogan Rogers, Liv Rogers and Smith Rogers.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Rufus Allen Rogers and her two sons, Gary Allen Rogers and Gregory Mark Rogers.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Marjorie's life will be held 2:00 PM, on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Resthaven Cemetery in Washington, Georgia. Peter Hoffman and Pastor Mike Wynne will officiate the service.
A visitation with family and friends will be held before the service from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at Hopkins Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be in Marjorie's name to the Wilkes County Ramp Ministry. To make a donation to the ministry please send to Clark Station Baptist Church, c/o Casey Jackson, 2924 Newtown Road, Tignall, Georgia 30668.
Arrangements to honor Marjorie's life and legacy are being handled by Hopkins Funeral Home in Washington Georgia.
